The John Lloyd Christmas Cracker Run 2025 will take place on Sunday 21st December at Bumble Hole Nature Reserve

On the Sunday before Christmas the club arranges a 5K handicap run for club members and guests. This is now known as the John Lloyd Christmas Cracker in honour of one of our founder members and long standing club supporter who sadly died in January 2024.

This year the event will take place on Sunday 21st December at Bumble Hole Nature Reserve DY2 9HS with the first runner starting at 9.30am. This will be the 34th time that the club has held a Christmas Cracker run and the sixth at Bumble Hole, previous events having been based at Uffmore Woods and Clent Hills.

The John Lloyd trophy is awarded to the winner on handicap and there are also usually awards to the fastest male and female runners and a spot prize. Afterwards we usually go to the cafe for a pre Christmas snack.

The run is now held at Bumble Hole which is a former industrial area in the heart of the Black Country now featuring canals, ponds, grassland and wooded areas , so a great route. The slowest runners will start fist and the quickest runners last. The handicapping is usually done by the club chairman so if the handicaps are correct then in theory everyone should finish around the same time.
